RU LAWRENCE
FOUNDER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Ru Lawrence is a physical theatre specialist, movement director, and choreographer dedicated to storytelling that speaks to the heart of the communities it represents. Inspired by DV8, Ru’s work explores queerness, grief, and working-class lives through dynamic, movement-driven performance.
Ru has worked internationally as a teacher and director, leading workshops and productions through their company, Tailwind, which has been commissioned to teach abroad. Their credits include work on acclaimed productions such as Scenes with Boys (Riverside Studios) and I Just Like You: A Gay Myth (Edinburgh Fringe, Theatre503).
Ru’s documentary-style dance film, I WISH YOU CALLED, has been featured in UK and international film festivals, exploring queer experiences in rural communities. Whether on stage or screen, Ru’s work is visceral, urgent, and deeply human.
